How You Can Help
With the re-colonization of the Theta Delta Chapter of Beta Theta Pi starting this fall, your brothers are now in need of your help! In recent years, the most successful restarts have had strong alumni support. However, in getting started the most common question is how can I help?
1. Update contact information.
You are the Fraternity’s best resource in collecting accurate contact information for Theta Delta alumni – including yourself! Cleaning up the list of emails, addresses and phone numbers will allow us to keep everyone informed and connected. Request a list of contact information from your years in school and make some phone calls. Also, be sure to visit LINK to update your own information.
2. Identifying potential advisors.
Do you know any alumni, faculty, staff, or community members local to Columbus that would be good assets to the new colony as advisors? We are committed to recruiting and training at least a five-person advisory team and your assistance in identifying candidates would be very helpful. Remember, some of our most successful advisors are not even members of the Fraternity.
3. Help identify potential members.
Do you have a son at Ohio State who wants to be a Beta? Do you know of any gentlemen, scholars, leaders and athletes attending or soon to attend Ohio State? Please send us referrals as we start growing our list of prospective members.
4. Communicate with other alumni.
Reach out to the members of the chapter during your college years or other friends with an e-mail, phone call, or letter. Do they know about the impending return of the chapter? Do they want to get involved or have questions that need to be answered? Help us spread accurate information and generate excitement!
5. Help start fundraising.
The General Fraternity will invest thousands of dollars in executing this project, but there are many added elements that will need financial support. These include annual leadership development experiences for the colony members, recruitment assistance, alumni communication, staff support and training, among others.
6. Help us win over the campus.
While we have consent to return Beta Theta Pi to campus, and enthusiasm from many students, it will take additional efforts to earn widespread support beyond the student body. What contacts do you have that you could talk or write to about the return? We need advocates for Men of Principle and the true fraternity experience we will create that complements the academic experience at Ohio State.
7. Preserve the Theta Delta tradition.
We need your help tracking down lost artifacts and history. Help us plan for the education period and maintain instruction on local lore and traditions. Also, do you have a passion for long-term housing improvements? Get involved on the housing side of things and leave a legacy for future members.
If you are interested in getting involved or helping in any of the forms listed above please e-mail our colony development coordinator, Brock Griffin, at firstname.lastname@example.org to help.
